HANNAH HAKAMI
Experimental ceramicist Hannah Hakami considers each piece she makes a test tile. The Chicago-based artist focuses much of her energy on the glazing process and uses a unique glazing combination on each piece, be it a mug, bowl, vase, or other vessel. Hakami mixes all of her own glazes from scratch, sourcing from books and websites as well as her own base of knowledge. Because of the intricacy of her glazing process, Hakami keeps her forms relatively simple and utilitarian to allow the viewer to focus on the surface. Each piece she makes teaches her more about the chemistry of her glazes and informs her practice as a conceptual artist.
STEPH STANGA
Steph Stanga is a Chicago-based illustrator who spends her time travelling the Midwest to show her work at art shows and conventions. She is mainly inspired by nature, animals, Disney, animated movies, and the overall genre of fantasy. Her favorite subjects are things normally considered weird or “ugly” and animals that just need some extra love.
