KRISTIN RYDHOLM
Kristin Rydholm is a Chicago-based textile artist who works primarily with weavings. She believes weaving to be a unique journey from the gathering and strategic evaluation of fibers, to dressing the loom, weaving the yardage, and ultimately transforming it into a finished handwoven piece of functional artwork.
She prefers the plain weave structure as it allows her to intentionally and exclusively focus on the selection and interaction of colors for the warp and weft. Currently, she is working on small limited-run or one-of-a-kind pieces made on assorted tabletop looms. Rydholm enjoys working on vintage looms because it connects her to the unique history of each loom as they have been and continue to be used to create many objects by a multitude of weavers.
